Autumn Tree

We just couldn’t wait! It’s almost time, so we put up our “Fall Tree”.  It is filled with sunflowers, pumpkin men ornaments, sparkly spiders, dragon flies, feathers and gourds. If you haven’t been by to sneak a peak…the time is now. You’ll enjoy the fall fragrances and colors. Steve, Montie and Shirley have been busy making wreaths and fall arrangements. The seasons are changing and so are we.  Our new floor samples of Norwalk and CR Laine upholstery will be in the store by the end of the week. We can’t wait to show you!

Bursting At The Seams!

The warehouse is moved and new inventory has all come in this week.  We are unpacking as fast as we can. For all of you who are waiting….it’s here! The art is unpacked and in the store. Most of the accessories are on display and we are working like crazy on fall. Every box we open makes us feel like it’s Christmas….and a few of the boxes ARE Christmas mixed in! Just a few short weeks and we’ll be working on setting that up. 100 degrees in the shade and we are opening Christmas.

We Are Going Green

We have made the decision to change how we notify you of sales and special events. We will continue mail postcards for the rest of this year, however, January 1st we will begin notifying by email of these events. If you will either call the store or let us know your email the next time you are in we will update your information.

We are all as reluctant to have our email boxed littered with a steady stream of notifications as we are our paper mailboxes, so we will have a limited number of contact with you. We will continue to have frequent blog posts for general information and contact you 4 to 5 times a year with sale information.

The attempt to be green,  non-intrusive and cost effective will be a good change for all of us! We will look forward to seeing you.

Warehouse Sale!

We are changing the location of our warehouse. The less we have to move to the new location the better. A sidewalk sale will be held in front of the store June 25th and 26th. Everything at the store will remain the same (except for special sale items and refreshments inside), only our receiving dock will move.  Take advantage of the deals we will have for you!

New Floral Designs

New inventory is in! Everyday new things are coming onto the floor. The large accent furniture we ordered in January is FINALLY here. Beautiful handpainted ceramics by Bob Francesco from Abigail’s are fresh and colorful. New glass in clear, colors, and unique shapes are just waiting for the first garden bouquet.

You all have created a shortage of in stock silk florals. The floral team has been working really hard to fill in and are outdoing themselves on creativity.

Stop by to see all of our new goodies! We will have lemonade and cookies waiting for you this weekend.

KCH&G Cooking School

Rick and I were guests of Candy Coppaken and KCHandG for their third Cooking School. Chef Renee Kelly of The Castle was amazing. Her enthusiasm spills over to everyone around her! She included all of us in conversations about health, local and natural foods, favorite herbs and recipes. Watching her use unusual ingredients definitely broadened our culinary horizon. She announced the final casting call for the reality television show The Bachelor will be held this summer at her facility!

For the dessert course Rick helped make banana wraps. As you can see he was “into” it. The event was held at Roth Distributors Showroom, and the wine pairings were provided by Off The Vine.

Definitely a fun evening we would recommend to everyone! Watch for the next event. They are all open to the public, with reservation necessary.

Tis The Season

DIFFA table display

Steve and Montie setting display

Our floral designers, Steve Nguyen and Montie Hefner have been busy the last couple of weeks! We designed one of the table centerpieces for the Tables That Bloom luncheon held April 7th. The event was hosted by the Delta Gamma alumnae to raise funds for the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired and the Alphapointe Association for the Blind.

We were asked by Keith Sauro, publisher of Kansas City House and Garden Magazine, to do their table for DIFFA event held on Saturday May 1st. It was the 20th anniversary of Dining by Design, an annual fundraiser for Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. The collection of ideas in the design industry was absolutely breathtaking! We chose to use black and white accented with green as our color theme. There were crystals suspended from willow branches; glass containers filled with water, crystals, and goldfish; mirror chargers; and black dinnerware.

Picture Perfect Interiors Visits Norwalk Custom Furniture

It’s exciting to see upholstery from the inside out! During a trip to Norwalk Custom Furniture in Norwalk, OH, Brenda and Brenna had the opportunity to see the inner workings of the Norwalk Furniture Company. We met the wonderful people we speak with daily as we customize furniture for our clients. It was refreshing to see the dedication and pride of each Norwalk employee we met.

Our factory tour began with the area where furniture frames are cut and assembled on site with wood furnished from local suppliers.  Next, we saw the springs (made from recycled cars)  inserted into the frames and passed along to the upholstery division. The fabrics are cut and bundled for specialized seamstresses.

Qualux foam for the cushions arrives in LARGE “buns”! We tried our best to move a “bun” but were unsuccessful. Later, we found out they actually have to run, jump and tackle each “bun” to take to cutting division. If we had only known this!

There is an entire room of furniture upholstered in white fabric for photography. This step enables the fabric draping feature on the Norwalk website. Each fabric is also photographed which allows (with the use of your computer) to see your sofa, chair etc. as you ordered it. Next we saw the design/development area for the Candice Olson Collection. These pieces are also upholstered in white to allow Candice revise each style to perfection with a magic marker! Each style is rebuilt until it meets her perfect specifications.

We then moved to the the fabric/design room where we were allowed a sneak peak at  April Market introductions. We are excited to announce new fabrics and frame styles will be available at Picture Perfect Interiors mid-March. New color collections included combinations of plum, gray, green along with teal, paprika and warm neutrals. The Candice Olson collection featured peacock, caramel, brown, charcoal and black.
