All the can lights are in, the ceilings are scraped and ready to be textured, and the floors are prepped and ready for installation to begin. I can’t wait for the real fun to start with the paint and cabinets to begin!
A lot has happened this week! The cabinets are out, the walls are down and the flooring in the entire first floor is removed. We have started work on the ceiling…scraping the popcorn finish and working on the new can lights, along with the rough in for the new “pretty” fixtures.
We also hit our first bump in the road….the HVAC contractor when the house was built notched into the support beam (an ABSOLUTE no-no) to run his duct work. When we removed the wall and found this we had to revise how much of the wall that can removed by the stairs.
We have made everything structurally sound and are on our way again! Stay tuned for the next installment!
We are beginning a new blog post series today. For the last week or so there has been preliminary work going on “underneath”, a lot of design decisions have been made and many materials ordered. We will follow the progress of Mandy’s kitchen as the door to the formal living room is narrowed, the kitchen~complete with new cabinets, granite, tile, and lighting~ moves to
the formal dining area, the stair case is opened, the former kitchen becomes the eating area complete with beverage center and built-in china cabinet, and the former eating area becomes the sunroom/playroom. The design in this kitchen is to open up the space to an open concept perfect for their growing family!
