We are back from the Atlanta Market and have had a few days to reflect. It was a very different market than we have attended in the last few years. Pre-registration for the market was up 71% from the last market! The isles were full, the sales rep so busy we had to wait in line to place orders, and there was a big buzz in the air.
The BIG trend in virtually every showroom was neutral. Upholstery was linen or burlap on French frames with little or no finish on the frame. Lots and lots of interesting textured pillows were on everything. The accessories were mixed textures, too. Mirrored trays, crystal everything, sea grass, pottery, blistered finishes on metal, and terrariums in everything were on tables with little or no color to the finish. Gray wash was the exception on wooden pieces.
A lot of layering in accessories with glass jars filled with everything that would fit in them, neutral textured charger plates, ceramic jars, and black and white pictures or drawings, and unique statues mixed for an interesting look.
The color we did see was used in small amounts with the neutral backgrounds. Clear jars of oranges, silk pillows, and bundles of flowers ties with satin ribbon were used for “pop”. The other accent we did see was still teal. The shade is almost a peacock blue/teal. Very strong, but beautiful when used sparingly.
Some of our new things have arrived already. This next week should bring a flood! Pop by to see our treasures.
