Celebrating Life

Recently, here at Picture Perfect Interiors, we had the privilege of celebrating with our own Shirley in the completion of her radiation treatment. Yes, Shirley has been diagnosed with cancer but being such a healthy, positive, kind of gal, she is not going to let this diagnosis get her down.

Shirley will begin the next phase of treatment soon. If you are a praying person, she would appreciate all the prayers you can send her way.

R&M Coco Mediterranean Cruise

Picture Perfect Interiors owners, Brenda and Rick Freebern have recently returned from the R&M Coco Customer Appreciation Mediterranean Cruise. They were awarded their trip based on sales. Their trip included stops in Kotor, Montenegro, Corfu, Greece, Taormina, Italy and many more. Here are some of the great picture that they took on their trip.

The first gentleman picture here with Brenda is Jim Rust, owner and president of R&M Coco, the second fellow is Mike Watson another owner of R&M Coco, they were both on the cruise as hosts to their awarded guests.

The trip not only gave Brenda and Rick time to relax, but traveling in the Mediterranean is also a fabulous place to be inspired by the architecture and design in these historical places to bring back and use right here in your own living spaces.

Porch or Veranda?

What do you think the difference is between a porch and a veranda? Is there even a difference at all? I have always like the word “veranda”. It sounds so fancy and makes me think of more than just a covering over the front door of a home. In reality the two structures are somewhat the same.

Porch – A porch is basically an attached section to the house which is open to the outside air and is covered with a roof to protect the front door. It is usually at the street level, and a house can feature a front porch as well as a back porch. In addition, a porch can be used as a living space for casual seating.

Veranda – A veranda is typically an open, large, long gallery, usually covered with a roof and supported by pillars. It must be mentioned that in most of the cases, verandas usually extend equally on all the sides of the structure and may be used as a living space also.

Here is a home that I would say has the definition of a veranda. The space runs the entire front of the home and can be used as additional outdoor living space. Here at Picture Perfect Interiors, if there is living space we can help you make it inviting and a comfortable place to spend time.

Our floral designer took the customer’s existing urns filling them with a spectacular arrangement of greens, curly willow and geraniums to create a no maintenance display on the veranda.

Because the veranda spans the entire lengthen of the home there are several seating areas where we were able to place coordinating arrangements. Living in Kansas with the wind and the hot summer days this home owner will enjoy her veranda without the daily watering routine that would be required if these arrangements were live.

Tables that Bloom 2013

Once again Picture Perfect Interiors was asked to be one of the designers that set a table for the “Tables That Bloom” Delta Gamma benefit luncheon. Wow, what a place to get inspired to set a table with style.

Our designers have out done themselves with a fantastic table that featured black and citrus yellow and green for a fresh Spring look.

We used black and white polka dot chargers that set off the damask fruit dinner ware nicely.

The centerpiece was created by our floral designer using forsythia and other greens in keeping with the yellow and green theme.

We have reset the table in our store so that you can see a table that blooms.

Making Fresh Choices

Making choices is sometimes one of the hardest things to do when it comes to your home. Most of us want things fresh and in keeping with current styles. But the pressure of knowing that you will be living with these decisions for a few years, increases the difficulty. Doing just a couple of things that are in an up-to-date color and fabric can be just the ticket to refresh the entire room.

Using one of these fabrics for pillows, a chair or if you are really brave an entire sofa would be a great start to updating a room. Window treatments are another way to bring in new style. They will not only offer color to a space but also soften the harshness of wood blinds or shutters and provide a cozy feeling to any room.
